Welcome

Thanks for visiting my site! My paintings are done on plexi-glass with acrylic paint. They can be viewed from either side, placed in front of a window, and hung from the ceiling or wall. When placed in front of a window, the opacity of the paint gives the piece a stained glass feel. Different times of day will also affect the way this painting is viewed. In the Gallery section you will find examples of my paintings. These can be purchased and/or used as ideas for customizing pieces.

About the Artist

My interest in textures and colors has helped me develop the idea to create pieces that explore implied and literal space. I find it intriguing that 3-dimensional space exists in an abstract work as much as in a realist painting. My goal is to engage the viewer through the use of color and texture. To this end I employ the formal painting concerns of design, color, texture, and process.

Utilizing a translucent canvas has made it possible to show the front and back, as well as through and beyond the works, creating a new spatial relationship within each painting. The ideal viewing for most of the paintings would have them hung from the ceiling and/or displayed to show both sides. They can also be placed in front of a window or light. I hope for the viewer to be pulled closer and then sent on a journey of color, light, tranlucency, and texture.

Other interests include the relationship between contrasting elements. For instance, organic versus geometric, thick versus thin, opaque versus translucent...etc... I am also interested in the way that the rectangular format counteracts a chaotic mark-making process.

One of my next steps is to explore framing as a well as placing the paintings in cabinets, hutches, and in front of windows. Please contact me with any further questions and inquiries!
